We are excited to announce our first-ever all-day audio training workshop with veteran digital and radio journalists Amara Aguilar and Susan Valot. The event is being co-sponsored by SoCal JAWS and the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, as well as the Institute for Diversity and Empowerment at Annenberg.

We are excited to announce our first-ever all-day audio training workshop with veteran digital and radio journalists Amara Aguilar and Susan Valot. The event is being co-sponsored by SoCal JAWS and the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, as well as the Institute for Diversity and Empowerment at Annenberg.

The cost is $20, which includes lunch provided by the journalism school. Space is limited to 20 so please RSVP early to SoCal JAWS co-captain Mona Gable (monagable@gmail.com). The event will be held in Wallis Annenberg Hall in Room 106.

Here are brief bios of Amara and Susan:

Amara Aguilar is an associate professor of professional practice in digital journalism at USC. She has also worked with NPR Next Generation's radio training program as a mentor and web/social editor to help increase diversity in public radio.

Susan Valot is a public radio reporter who's been covering Los Angeles and Orange County for nearly two decades. She was KPCC's Orange County Bureau Chief from 2006 to 2011.
