ACES' EDITING TRAINING:
The Editing Boot Camp is an all-day pre-conference training presented by the American Copy Editors Society (ACES). It will be held at the La Quinta Resort and Club on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014. For more about the training, please see the schedule here. As partner organizations, JAWS members have the chance to register at the discounted member rate.

INVESTIGATIVE TRAINING:

Thank you for checking out information on the Oct. 30, 2014, all-day investigative training that will be held BEFORE the Conference and Mentoring Project (CAMP). We're thrilled that four of the best investigative journalists in the world will lead the training — Jennifer LaFleur, Rosemary Armao, Maud Beelman and Susy Schultz. For more about the training, please see the schedule here. This is a SEPARATE registration from CAMP, but you can fill out the registration form and pay for both at the same time. Just click on "Register" above.

CAMP:
The 2014 Conference and Mentoring Project Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 will be packed with practical and inspiring sessions, all held in a beautiful resort near Palm Springs, California, known as Hollywood’s playground.

The La Quinta Resort and Club is one of the original getaways for Hollywood’s stars. If you hear typing late into the night from the room next door, it might not be a fellow JAWdess, but the ghost of Frank Capra writing the script for “It’s a Wonderful Life.” (Yes, he wrote it in one of the suites at the resort.)

There are plenty of fun reasons to go to CAMP this year, like a spa, 41 swimming pools and hot tubs, tennis, hiking and golf, but there’s also top-notch training and experts that will only be at this journalism conference. Here are a few of the topics we’ll cover:
+ Telling Our Stories: Documentarians will discuss how they use film to tell women’s stories while presenting diverse images to discover about who we are, what we do, our history and contemporary stories. This panel will also include documentaries shown over the weekend. Janice Rhoshalle Littlejohn, documentarian, professor and journalist, will present this panel.
+ Online Harassment: What do you do when faced with online harassment? Michele Weldon, Northwestern University professor will present this panel.
+ Swiss Army Knife of Apps: What are the not-to-be-missed and useful apps for mobile devices? Digital journalist Stephanie Yamkovenko will cover her top 10.
+ Podcasting 101: Who are the best podcasters right now? You’ll get tips from the pros, find out what you need to start your own podcast and more.
